Hi all!

I own a Hamax caress bike seat - I & my 2 y/o daughter really like it - but unfortunately the strap needs to be replaced as the top part of the belt lock (below the release button that plugs down into the seat) has broken.

I can see there are replacement straps available online (Halfords, Amazon) but I can't find any instructions on how to remove and replace a broken strap (have Googled, searched youtube, the Hamax website, the instructions that came with the bike etc).

Does any one have any experience of doing this? Can you share any tips on how to do so / post any instructions etc?

Many thanks in advance!

Well, I had exactly the same problem, and thankfully I managed to attach the new belt - after quite a lot of trying...
What I did was this:
- Make sure that the belt is at its highest (otherwise the hole where the belt goes in isn't visible)
- Detach the the seat cover from the seat, so that you can see everything a bit better.
- Push out the current belt toward the rear of the seat. This can be difficult as, obviously, the belt is supposed to be fixed properly...
- Draw out the whole plastic covering of the belt (towards the back of the seat) until only the belt is in the hole where the belt was fixed.
- Turn the plastic covering of the belt around and push it back in towards the hole. (This was the key to managing the further steps!)
- Push the plastic covering of the belt through the whole towards the front site of the seat - which, now that the covering is turned the other way around, is finally possible.
- Detach the old belt from the seat cover also.

The steps to attach the new belt are the reverse of what I described above and should not be too difficult anymore (once you know what to do...).

I hope this helps a few people, I have found literally nothing else on the internet to help with this...

If you follow these instructions and feel they are unclear, please feel free to suggest better ways to describe the necessary steps! English is not my native language and I did find it a bit difficult to put into words what needs to be done.

Good luck everyone!

I made a photo of the crucial step to take:

The right belt strap is turned around and can be pushed out to the front (through the wider left side of the belt hole).
