How do you grease 105 hubs?

They have been ridden underwater several times in the current soggy conditions and I think I need to get some grease in there (very slight grating when rotated). How do you do it? The Shimano site just says apply grease but not how, Sheldon and Park tools - nothing. Zinn says drip in liquid lube but Shinano says never use liquid lube. I am confused - please help.

I spotted that article when originally searching but it is headed "A Blast from the Past" and my wheels are 2005's it did not seem to help a lot.

Did my Ultegra ones recently, pretty straight forward, just like hubs were 30+ years ago...

Ah now I understand - was assumimng it would be all high tech sealed units.

Puts me in mind of a passage from "The Escape Artist".

Ordered some cone wrenches - interesting job for the next rainy day.
