That's what a door is for.

Walk out and leave them to calm down. Good motivation for a 50 miler in my opinion.

A fifty miler?

I used to disappear for days at a time. It was pre widespread mobile phone ownership days and being uncontactable was wonderful.

Slam the door, get out on the bike for a good couple of hours, get rid of your anger and then deal with the anger when you get back. Because you know the parent would be angry that you went out without saying ought

I seem to get in more trouble for going out on long rides than when I come home at 3am and spew up everywhere....

"If you have that much energy you could have helped me chop wood in the garden"
Can't win   .... but this does bemuse me.

I tend to do a massive ride with friends, then be absoulty dead for the night THEN i get shouted at and then I spend the rest of the night wanting to go out on the bike and get rid of my anger and mess it all up.

parents.....but nothing serious...

...just saw a thread called "how to deal with the anger" and thought I'd put a spin on it....but it is mighty interesting to see how people deal with things in different ways.

You need to learn.
When they have a go at you, just say ok. Get them to shut up fast and then get back on with what you were doing.
Easy.
And, you might find that when you keep saying ok, they get more annoyed thenjust bugger off.

My 12 year old is very angry with his dad tonight - bad day at school dad interogating such that he put the phone down on him, dad called back son said blah blah blah and dad has just driven over here, perhaps I shouldn't have opened the door, only thing son needs to do is sleep and realise tomorrow is a new day. I am ...ng myself downstairs now waiting

So getting in trouble for going for long rides.....let them know how long you will be - leave a note.....add an hour just in case, or give them a ring.

It's only 'cos they care....I give eta's to my wife as well.....I also get an ear bash if I'm overly late....... not much you can do with 'other responsibilities like mini me's......

If you are getting in trouble for long rides, and you've been considerate with times of return, I'd just remind them that most kids are getting fat, or doing drugs......

If it's just general day to day stuff, see it from their point of view 'eh....they still care about you....mum's don't let go as much....I'm more hard with my son as that's what life deals you......my missus would wrap him up........
