I have standardised on Shmano disc brakes but these came on the latest bike. Shimano have bleed nipple but I do not see on on the Marta's.

It looks to me that there is a socket screw (aka grub srew) - you can see it in the picture just above the main piston plug - black thin with star shape indent - the I presume if for bleeding, correct?

And if it is, won;t it get messay ans there is no way to attach a tube to collect the fluid?

Anyone done this or know of on-line instructions?

Oh, and even more annotng instead of using small allen bolts or cross head screws, the reservoir cap is held by some torx type screws  cost me £11 to buy the set so that I will be albe to remove it.

syringes .... my bum!!!

obviously a ploy to get you to spend £20 on the bleed kit, which I now will have to return when it arrives.

Anyways I think I did it.

A Shimano bleed screw (M6) fits. Steps are as follow.

1. undo socket screw from magura brake and install bleed screw. To avoid any oil leaks, lay the bike so the caliper is horizontal - done by using blocks of wood under the wheel. I assume that as long as the reservoir cover is on at this stage, the fluid will not drip out.
2. loosen the brake lever so the reservoir is horizontal and remove the cover
3. fit bleed screw and attach hose to it with other end in a small jar (I use a jar from Tesco parsley herbs but I sure any other herb will do)
4. pull brake lever then crack open bleed screw
5. close bleed screw and release brake lever
6. top up reservoir if necessary (needs T7 Torx bit to undo the screws for the cover). Note that pushing the lever forwards past its rest position seems to help draw oil in.
7. repeat steps 4. to 6. until brake lever is firm and no bubbles are seen in the brake oil
8. lay wheel horizonally as in step 1. after refitting the reservoir cover
9. remove bleed screw
10. add a couple of drops into the caliper hole - this is to ensure that no air is trapped - not sure if that can happen but better to be sure it can't
11. fit the socket screw.
12. return brake lever to original position and do up bolt

Tools needed:
1. M6 bleed screw - Shimano one will work
2. T7 torx bit
3. hex allen key for socket screw (3 mm?)
4. 5 mm hex allen key to undo brake lever bolt
5. 7 mm spanner to do/undo the bleed screw
6. 20 cm of hose - I use aquarium airline hose
7. small glass jar
8. tissue or rage to wipe up any excess brake oil

No need to remove the brake pads or buy the expensive kit.

Magura blood is same stuff as Shimano oil which is same stuff as the ctirus (?) stuff, which according to the man in the bike shop you can by for a couple quid a litre in Halfords.
