Been for short ride just to see how quick i could be, despite my own misgivings.

I completed a trip of just over 3.5 miles at an average of around 16mph (cannot check now as i mistakenly cleared my computer) I hit a max of 25mph and 23.9 on the flat, I was fairly happy, one biggish climb, well for me fairly windy but 80% flatish.

I then checked endomondo, it showed a max speed of 23.9 and an average of 14.2mph, boo hoo

One explanation is i clicked go on the phone a good 30secs before moving, then had to faff getting feet into clips etc, but this wouldnt show such a low average speed.

My guess is the computer is about 6/7% out. The distance covered was 3.40 miles in 14.33 seconds. If i knock 1 minute of it comes to = 15.1mph

it shows me im not as quick or fit as i thought, how depressing. I was shattered! wont try that again for some time eh! back to enjoying steady and slow rides

I don't know how the endomondo software works but some gps record you position at a point, an at another point then draws a straight line between whereas your line may not have been exactly straight; 3.5 miles is pretty short for that to have made a difference though. The important thing is that you enjoyed your ride :-)

I use endomondo quite a lot. I find it to be pretty accurate when checked against my cateye.

Having said that, my mate uses it and has nothing but problems so it could be a phone software issue.

What kind of bike are you riding?

I take it you meant 35 miles not three and half!

Have you done a roll out test to determine the calibration of your cycle computer?
Using the pre-set figures will be a bit misleading.
