My Trek Domane with tiagra groupset rattles when in top gears, sounds worse on rougher roads. Any ideas please.I am reluctant to mess about with adustments to derailleur as changes gear nicely.Thanks.Bob

Do you have internal cables? My Specialized Roubaix has and it rattles on rough ground due to cables I think.

A damn side easier than trying to diagnose it from text.
Try warp factor 2 or 3 and a safe place to ride whilst looking down. Or is that too complicated?
Agreed. But no rattles below the two top gears.
is your cassette nice and tight on the freehub, can you rattle that about with your fingers (don't try this whilst riding) ?
Is good. Bike has only done 500 miles.

If bike is new and has done only 500 miles then likely all that is needed is the cable tension wants adjusting - quite normal for a new bike to need this after a bedding in period. The bike shop0 u bought it from should have offered a post-sales check up for it.

It could be the chain bouncing hitting the deraileur, I've noticed it lately on mine when in the highest last two or three gears when on rough roads.
Not sure why that is though: Chain stretched or worn?

Can you produce the rattle when the bike's upside down or on a workstand? If you get the same rattle you can then eliminate any road buzz. You should then be able to gently turn the pedals and actually see whether the chain is running freely. My guess is that the outer limit on the dérailleur is slightly too close to the chain.
