Hope Vision 1: Wobbly Bracket

I went for a leisurely night ride earlier this evening using my Hope Vision 1 light.

I planned a 15 mile ride which mainly consists of some pretty rough single track lanes and farm roads, with the nearest street lights being some 5 miles away – so pretty dark and isolated.

Anyway, all was fine and the light worked great for the 1[sup]st[/sup] half of the ride, but then the unit started to come loose from its bracket with the beam bouncing all over the place, so I had to hold it for the last 5 miles home.

The problem is the hex head bolt which holds the light and bracket together comes loose. This happened to me last week so I made sure it was tight before going out tonight. So I guess the question is whether or not it’s not designed to withstand vibration picked up through this type of road surface.

Anyone else had this problem or knows of a solution?

Thanks in advance

This happened to mine on the last FNRttC. I tightened it up when we stopped for a while but I will take the screw out and put a drop of thread lock on it before re-assembling. If you haven't any threadlock a bit of nail varnish will work.

I have 2 and have not had any problems with either of them, but I ride on road 99.9% of the time.
+1 to a bit of threadlock though, should do the trick.

Excellent – I now have an excuse for keeping nail varnish in the cupboard

I just took the bracket off to do just that, but before doing so, I couldn’t help but notice that the screw thread hole is near to the front. This means that the bracket doesn’t sit in the middle and the rubber seal overhangs in mid air  Does this position appear right to you?

Thanks again
