I was able to add mine unto my contents insurance for a small premium excellent but parts of it are somewhat odd ie if my bike is locked any lock will do they do not specify which I find really odd but I am not complaining.

Go on, tilt your head!
I got a good deal last year with the AA for £95 (contents, not buildings) and that covered my expensive bike plus away from home and accidental damage etc

Full buildings & contents cover from Priviledge covers all of my bikes up to £1000 in value. Another £60 and I added the Van Nicholas as a specified item.

I'm with Zurich through the AA, I don't have to specify bikes up to £1500. One is named only on that basis. I think I paid under £400 for buildings, contents, away from home, accidental damage, legal cover

Just a bump to this thread, what default bike value coverage does your home insurance have? Churchill is £500 which I suspect is on the low side, and seemingly no set ebike value other than that.

When I shopped around for my home insurance I noticed a lot of policies have a relatively low default cover limit for bikes - £500 is typical which seems very low considering what that would buy you today, and no use at all for ebikes.
Fortunately most will cover more expensive bikes for a small additional fee, either by increasing the policy limit or as specified items but as always it's up to you to ensure that you buy the right cover.
Sadly a lot of people buy on price alone, don't check what is covered or what limits apply and only find out they're underinsured (or not covered at all) when they need to claim.

2.5k (away from home, at home it’s unlimited). An Aviva plus premium policy. All unlimited with legal, under £300 a year (£23 ish a month, I get a discount as I have an ancient dormant pension with them)
