Not a happy bunny tonight...
After last weekend breaking 2 spokes, I replaced the 2 as a trial...knowing deep down what would be about to happen.
Last 2 days, added 10 miles to my commute for fun, coming home tonight - ping! Another one bites the dust - same (disc) side.
Mind is made up, need a rebuild and I'm quite capable of building a better wheel even if it is about 15 years since I worked building wheels daily...
2 thngs spring to mind:
1. Should a bike built for touring (2009 EBC Country Explorer) be breaking spokes on the disc side (disc I think is a factor) after just over 8 months, and probably less than 2500 miles? I don't mash the gears and tend to spin rather than honk...besides it's not the drive spokes that are breaking.
2. Should I simply just rebuild, for the cost of 36 decent spokes...or should I go for a whole new touring rear wheel?...just an opinion question really - tempted by putting my old rim onto a heavier duty hub?
