Took this pic yesterday:-

and did further research about Col Otway , his bunch of heroes and the Merville Gun Battery

Lovely and moving gesture that someone had affixed a poppy to the fence.

When I rode up to Broadway Tower in the Cotswolds, there's a small monument there dedicated to the Canadian crew of a Whitworth Whitley V Bomber that
crashed there in poor weather conditions.

thanks for the interesting posts. I think it would be a nice tribute if we were to dedicate this thread to all the servicemen and women that lost their lives in WWll .

Would it be ok if we add further pictures of WWll monuments and history links that we encounter on our rides?

That's a fine idea peanut: I'll contact admin.

flexes fingers to be ready

I often do bike riides for my mates and anyone else who would like to come along based around a local history theme.

Next planned one is on forgotten and lost pubs in Leicester. Well, not all of them, just a few with interesting stories.

One ride I did had 52 people along:ohmy:
