Hi Jason - snap!

I had a THR on November 11th last year and I got on the turbo after 6 weeks. I started off with 5 mins, 10 mins and witin 2 weeks I was up to 30 mins and an hour.

After 11 weeks, I am now doing an hour around a local tarmac track and have ridden up to 20 miles with no pain or repercussions.
I was told that uncemented prostheses don't fuse to the bone until at least 12 weeks so I'm not sure whether i should get back on the road yet. I've cycled to the shops already but I'm slightly nervous of riding in a group and in busy traffic while the repair is possibly still healing.

Good luck!

A friend in his 40's had a hip replacement last year and was back on the bike about 5 or 6 month later and seems to be doing fine.

Sorry can't remember the exact timing. ... and that was cycling out and about rather than just on a trainer but he seems to be cycling around fine... that leg is apparently a little weaker still but absolutely no pain. Don't know over what period the improvement continues.

I'm going out on the roads next Saturday, weather permitting, which will be 12 weeks. The beauty of a THR is that you weight bear from day 1 so there isn't the muscle loss there is after a fracture.

Not a hip replacement thread but a huge thread over on Bike Radar dealing with broken hips, useful especially for me as I had a black ice crash 2nd January this year resulting in a broken hip and elbow. There just maybe some useful info on there...
