I live in Reigate and have cycled over to Box Hill a couple of times to go up Zig Zag road. I have a mountain bike but I'm not that interested in "challenging/technical" off roading at the moment - I enjoy it but I am trying to get my general fitness up by practicing something which I can consistently do under the same/similar conditions.

I understand Leith Hill is pretty steep, but where would be best to climb that on road/track? Are they any other nearby that would also be appropriate..? - and what road should I go on to climb them?

Thanks for any local knowledge

This is a ride that some people on another forum do. It may be of interest. It appears to have some hills in it , other than Box and Leith that you mention.

A few suggestions near you, the Climb from:

Dorking up to Coldharbour
Dorking up to Ranmore Carbon
From Dorking along A25 turn left at the pub at Wotton
From Dorking along A25 past Wotton then turn right up a hill called 'White Down', turn right at the crossroads at the top to take you back to Ranmore common

Or you could do them all in one ride, some will be down not up of course so you can reverse the ride next time, the below is a 28.3 mile loop
