Hey
I'm having problems with my chain grinding when in higher gears (Highest gear on the small ring, all the gears on the big ring). I've tried adjusting the front DR as this is where the noise is coming from but the DR can't move over enough...

Is it possible that because i'm using shimano R501's (8/9/10 speed) with a 7 speed groupset that the spacer I am using (to make the wheels compatible with a 7 speed cassette) is too thick, thus pushing the cassette and chain too far over so that the chain rubs against the front mech?

Hope I've explained myself well enough here...

Probably just need to loosen the H screw on the front mech a little bit to stop the chain rubbing on it in the highest gear if thats what you mean ?

Bung it into small , big as you described and spin the crank .If the chain is rubbing on the front mech then you need to loosen the H stop a smidge. If not get back to us

May also need to check the position of the FD.
Make sure its lined up correctly with no tension on the cable (if you download the installation instructions for the particular model it will give you a required position - but it's usually parallel with and a few mm away from the ring).
