I went to see it today with the Noodlettes and, despite thinking I'd use the 2 hours for catching up on some sleep, I found it strangely enjoyable.

I did find it strange that all the pupils appeared to be in their twenties.

But the catchy tunes and the intense deep plot had me enthralled.

I know, how can a film with no violence or sex (unless you count a single kiss) be so damn popular?

Its good, clean, innocent fun - brilliantly choreographed - catchy songs ... I really can't see what the appeal is at all!

(Although I could have asked the thirty odd kids a few rows behind us who let out an almost deafening scream when Troy got his first close-up!)

;)

My only reservation about this films is that they are "tick box" operations designed to appeal to the kids, rather than any real substance, education or plot.....and as a result it smack a little of exploitation.

One also wonders just how many times they can do this - anyone for High School Musical 60?

Not as good as HSM 1 and 2. Not enough Sharpay.

Just another "chick-flick" which fortunately I won't have to suffer. Wife hates S&tC as well so I'm safe on that front. One of the joys of having sons.

I am resigned to the fact I will be taking the kids to watch it in the near future.
Shame about the Sharpay thing.
