I'll be giving this a go. First ever sportive but it is largely on roads I know and, given it starts about a mile from where I live it seemed rude not to.
Two options: The classic Snake-Strines-Holme Moss loop 52 miles, 5,500ft climbing
As above but with an extra loop taking in Mam Tor and some climbs out of Castleton and Hathersage. 83 miles, 9,000ft climbing

I'm giving the 83 mile one a try. Longest ever ride but I do plenty of 50-60 mile hilly rides so hopefully it should be possible

Any CCers riding this? If you see a "stocky" guy on a white Raleigh struggling up the hills but descending like a stone....that'll be me.

Yes, I am doing the 50 mile one. This is my first ever sportive also, so I am a bit apprehensive..

Will be alone as my brother has dropped out. My fitness is questionable, but I can comfortably ride a hilly 25 mile route so hopefully will finish. Stressing about the weather and what to wear at the moment..

Good luck ninjaseb!
Weather forecast isn't bad atm. No rain until late afternoon, about 10 degrees. Only problem is quite a strong westerly wind. This will give a nice fast run out to Ladybower for you, a side wind over Strines but then headwind all the way back over Holme Moss. I need to make sure I don't go off too fast as the last 20 miles will be hard into the wind

Re clothing, I hate being too hot so I will probably go with a base layer and short sleeved top.Waterproof with me just in case. Probably shorts

If you see my bike (there won't be many on such a cheap runaround) then be sure to say hi
