Has anyone had any experience with these and maybe undergone surgery? It's causing me a lot of issues but I have read some horror stories from people who have had surgery...

Any input is welcome

My daughter was diagnosed with hiatus hernia when she was about 35 and was proscribed lansoprazole capsules.
She is severely autistic and had suffered from swallowing and sickness issues all her life, but these capsules do seem to have addressed some of the symptoms.
Hope you find a solution

Hi keith.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am currently on esomeprazole which to my knowledge is strong than lanzoprazole, I'm also on double the recommended dose so my prescription at the moment is "off license". Unfortunately this still isn't mitigating my symptoms so I am resigned to the fact that I will need to be cut open, just currently searching for the right person to do it.

Thanks again

I guess you have had all the scans and the like. Have they told you what sort of hernia it is?

Hi Shaun,

I have been informed that it is a Hiatus Hernia - http://www.hernia.org/types/hiatus-hernias/

I had an emergency endoscopy performed on the 28th of april, due to symptoms such choking whilst eating/drinking and throwing up blood. As soon as I laid down on the bed before he put the camera down my throat he pressed on my abdomen and as soon as I grimaced in pain he told me what it was. But he conducted the endoscopy to ensure that I wasn't afflicted by anything else such as stomach ulcers etc. I also had an ultrasound performed yesterday to check my gall bladder etc.

Hi

The hernia you describe seems to be a sliding not rolling one. I guess you have been offered a fundoplication?
