1st posting so dont shoot me down,i have just been given a Raleigh Freeride AT40 Mens which has mtb tyres on(WeirWolf WTB)wanted to get some Schwalbe ones as i have read they seem ok wanted them to be more a road tyre without all the knobbies on as i rarely go off rd.
Ques is do mine have inner tubes in and when i get the schwalbe ones will they require an inner tube

yes, your will have inner-tubes and yes you will need them

if you take them out they should have a size on them. probably something like 26x1.75.

the 26 is the tyre size and should/needs to stay the same. the 1.75 is the tyre width and this is where things change

if your going for thinner tyres you may need a thinner tube eg. 26x1.25.

some/most tubes will cover a range of widths eg. 26x 2.1 - 2.5 or something like that. the two numbers giving the upper and lower limit.
 
I am new as well. I changed my MTB tyre from 26 x 2.0 to 26 x 1.5. Alot of difference in terms of speed and effort. You might not have to get a new set of inner tubes as the specs in your current one might be able to take the smaller newer tyres. If you have to, the inner tubes are rather inexpensive.


Just to note, you might want to hold on to the wider tyres as they are less likely to slip in the current wet conditions and where wet leaves can be a problem.
