Firstly ! Hi to all the members !
I'm a total newbie looking for some advice.

I'm about to get a new bike soon through cycle2work, My budged is 600-700.
Normally the bike will be used on a short trip to work on the road but apart from that I would like to be able to use this bike as I used my old heavy bulky home made mountain tourer with panniers to go for few 100miles long cross country+road+off road trip every year.
So I've been looking around and found:
Scott Sub Cross 30 2016- ( https://www.evanscycles.com/scott-sub-cross-30-2016-hybrid-bike-EV253508#/modal__product-zoom-modal )

I like the bike itself the shape and the feel, but maybe I'm just under sales man impression ?
Can any one tell me theirs opinion about above bike ?

Welcome. I think you mean "budget". Can you edit the title (it would help to get more views) or can only @Moderators?

I've not seen that bike and it's not a type I feel well-suited to review unseen, sorry.

That is one heck of a budged. However I've just bought a new Dawes galaxy which I would take anywhere [ok not on a genuine mountain track] without a second thought. Includes mudguards pannier fittings rack etc etc exact middle of your budget. Lock out forks disc brakes - humbug. Maybe have a check around more - what do you mean by off road ? Bridleways tow paths ? Doesn't look like a real hardcore mud plugger so see what you really need - then buy whatever you want [that's part of the fun].

Hi
Thanks to mod for changing the title.
by off road I mean bridleways and some mountain trail tracks ( sorry English it's not my first language  )
the only thing is that I'm quite restricted and can only get a bike from Evans.
I wanted to stick with both disc brakes and Deore bits + lock on the fork that's why I chosen Scott as it seemed the only one within this price range with all this parts.

If you like the bike's shape and feel upon riding (Evans make test riding very simple, just need photo ID and a bank card), then it's most likely a bike you will enjoy. Doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks

However, remember you are on,y leasing the bike from your company, so make sure it's properly insured against theft (if stolen you'd still be responsible for paying your company). Use £70-100 of your budget to get a couple of good locks, at least one d lock like an abus granit or kryptonite New York type

Good weather forecast this weekend, get down to your local Evans and have a test ride or two

What are they insuring for £43? Yes, they are quite well known for cycling insurance but as ever check what they are covering and read the Ts&Cs before handing over your bank card
