I've grown a beard - I can't for the life of me remember why. It's a bit annoying as I find myself either scratching it or stroking it thoughtfully. Does the compulsion to play with it wear off after a while, as you get used to it?

This is still the beard I'm talking about, right!

...eek...I grew a full on Crusoe style once...just so i could say i had done it...anyway it was horrid...itchy, hot, in the way and no I never lost the urge to comb it with my fingers...I think that was when I lost all my friends, my marbles and gained some additional 'pets'.

I've had a beard for a few years, I'm too lazy to shave. I keep it trimmed pretty short and shave around my neck every couple of weeks so its not really itchy at all. Was itchy for the first few weeks when i first grew it though.

The only problem in the summer is that not much of my face gets a tan, if I shaved of my beard in the summer I'd have some very interesting tan lines.

Have had a beard for about ten years now. It's been trimmed, it's been bushy, but i can assure you the itchiness goes after the first few weeks regardless....

I still play with it. love it!

I have face fuzz, grown this winter out of laziness and waiting for my CC Buff.

The itching thing comes and goes, the compulsion to play with your beard is natural it's a new friend!

This thread is useless without pictures.;)

I've had a full goattee thing going on for years now, it gets the occasional bit of strokage, but only if I dont take the clippers to it for a week.

grown when I was younger to add a few years, now I am thinking I should take it off and look a few younger... damned grey hairs, always thicker and more pointy out than the good brown ones. ;)

I grew a beard for a few months over winter a couple of years agho, but gave up because I decided that the beard always smelt of wet dog, even if I shampooed it every morning and hair dryered it!

Also, I couldn't feel my wife's face on my own when we cuddled and having a bad head cold with a streaming nose and a moustache wasn't nice either.

Sorry if all the above points induced stomach churning visions.

During the few months I had it I don't recall the fascination of rubbing my hairy chin ever abating.

I've got a goatee, but keep it well trimmed (most of the time), and have had it since I was 16 (now 27). I've shaved it off twice in that time, but hate it and always grow it back.

Even though it's only a stubbly beard, I still stroke it ;)
