Since I replaced it with a Contour ROAM 2, I have a Chilli Technology Action Cam 3 720p sitting around not being much use to anyone. I'd like to have the option of putting it on the back of the bike when I go to traffic-heavy places. It originally came with this mount however it is not suitable for mounting on the back as you can't change the angle and it doesn't even hold the camera securely.

I'm guessing some sort of position-able torch mount could be one solution; however I'm not even sure where I want to mount the camera. I have a saddlebag which lives on the bike (Trek 1500 '05) but no panniers. Does anyone have any advice or examples of how they mounted theirs?

Most people mounting cameras to the frames are now using some kind of RAM System. Mostly with a 1/4 screw which attaches to the camera.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like your camera has a 1/4 screw hole. Maybe you can take that mount apart and see if the screw the tightens the handlebar section is a 1/4 inch.

If not, then you can do something like in this video. It's a piece of cut handlebar which is attached to the seat post, you can then add your current mount to get a rear view. The user that made the mount used aero bar mounts to fix the two together, this may not work depending on the size of your seat post and the size of tubing you can acquire.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't reply immediately because my bike was in the shop and I wanted to double check what room I have with the saddlebag on. Unfortuneately there's no free space on the seatpost with my bag mounted. I was thinking I could try using a torch mount like this one as the camera is essentially in the shape of one of those cheap multi-LED lights sold at the tills of garages and hardware shops etc. I might get away with having it on the seat tube or find a way to get it on the chainstay.
