Hi all, I have been given a kastle 19" Mtb with grip shift, it also has a front wheel missing and has been sitting in the shed for years.

I plan to use this bike to get to and from work via paths and roads about 5 miles each way.

Can u guys recommend what I can do to this bike without spending hundreds.

All depends on what works and what doesn't. If everything is more or less ok then check around either a few LBS for a wheel or E bay.If it's just a clean and grease up job plus the wheel you should get it sorted for £5 - 25 depending on what you might need and how lucky you are with the wheel.

One of the places I get parts from
For cheap rebuilds is the local tip, you can often get a cheap wheel for a fiver that just needs a clean a true.

Cheap front wheel, £25 or so from a shop, second hand for a fiver or so off Gumtree. Adsa cable set and a chain £4 each. can of touch up paint if there's any rust needs removing and covering. Assuming you've got basic tools, wd40/oil and a few bits of spares you can have it running like a dream for very little more than that. If the shifters or derailleur are kaput then ebay or gumtree or brand again a few quid.

(boringly repetitive) I got a Trek 800 MTB recently same sort of thing, been in a shed for years, everything seized up and seriously unloved. Excluding my effort and a upgrading the (working but poor quality) rear mech for a better one I had in my spares box, it has cost me £70 all in. including buying the bike, cables, chain, grips, adding bar ends, getting the back wheel trued by LBS and a bit of home respraying. It runs brilliantly and silently.
