Many thanks ...will take a look!@Reborncoyote that looks very tidy indeed
have a look on the classic lightweights and vcc web pages
the 531 sticker is typical of the 50 & 60's era
Thanks Cycleops for your reply. I noticed the post @classic33 made before - seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject - and I see has also liked your post! I don’t think the lacquer is original (or the chrome?) and the Reynolds decal is new but no reason to doubt that particular provenance! There was a site with some Freddie Grubb info but it has now ceased.
I'm sure you know they were taken over by Holdsworth.
Did a bit of digging and found a similar enquiry on here and it appears 11857 is 1955. That was from @classic33. From the look of the bike it would seem to be sixties.
Another Grubb i found #6923 was 59/60
Shame you don't have the head badge, that could have nailed it.
Did Holdsworth use Agrati dropouts?
That lacquered finish looks like it may not be original.
Here is the 1962 catalogue:

I'm stabbing in the dark here so I'll leave it to others who have more knowledge than me.
Thank you most kindly! Not a Scooby on age but Nice.
Thanks Midlife..I love the bike but guessed was not wholly original!Good looking frame but contradiction at every turn, the lugs look like 60's- 70's Prugnat but the ends are Agrati...
Cracking bike though
Hi Rogerzilla....I’m guessing it’s not original? The chrome is amazing. Has it been rechromed, or is it original?
Thanks for your comments Illaveago, see photoOne way would be to have a look at the backs of the brake calipers as it looks as though it was made for centre pulls.
I agree with midlife that the spear point lugs point to 60/70's. The style of 531 transfer may also help in dating it.
I should imagine that a lot of peeps on here are turning green with envy. It is a nice looking bike.
