Hey everyone.

I hope someone can help me out.

I have a Campagnolo Athena groupset and I get a clicking noise when I move my cranks. This has turned into my cranks now not moving forward, they do move backwards.

Could this be a bearing issue? Would someone be able to try and diagnose and then let me know how I can get the crank off? I.e what tool?

Would be very much appreciated, video of issue below!

I'd remove the chain to isolate if the problem is with the rear wheel / hub or the cranks / BB

Are your cranks Ultra Torque or Power Torque.
UT are fairly simple to get off I think..PT require specialist tools.

I suspect it's nothing to do with the cranks but a problem in your free hub. I think if you remove the chain the cranks will move. Remove the wheel and take it to a bike shop.

It's an odd one..if you think about it, even if the freehub pawls has siezed somehow that wouldn't stop the wheel turning freely would it ?
For me, chain off....you'd soon isolate where the problem lay. I'm beginning to wonder if the BB has gone....if two bearings clash they counter rotate and jam against each other...effectively making movement possible only one way. Ive had this in other applications. Have there been any noises or problems building up to this..have you done anything lately...any clues can help diagnose.
Also have a very very close visual inspection around the cranks and BB, make sure nothing is jamming, bearing cups are not exhibiting any excess play etc. Just a real good look.

From the video, the chain is stopping forward rotation, so it must be a fault with the wheel. Assuming it's not something silly—like the brakes binding—then the hub is the problem.

Remove the chain. See if you can spin the cranks, if you can, it's not a BB or crankset issue. Sounds like the freehub to me, happened to the shimano freehub on my MTB.

looking at video i would say the problem is at the back somewhere - you can see the chain tighten and stop - have you tried moving back wheel forward ?
