hi everyone, hope you have all had a good christmas.
Advice please;
not only has the evil punkypossum changed my avatar to THIS, on the apparent family resemblance, but she has finally persuaded me to go clipless. My uncle also played significant part in this after a couple of festive whiskeys....
She has just ordered a set of M520s on my behalf and I am a bit worried about the inevitable tipping sideways at traffic lights thing.
However, she must fulfill her side of the bargain - meeting my family - not just the cyclists!!
Mwahahahaha :biggrin:

M520's are great pedals. Take it steady and you'll probably only have a couple of 'clipless moments'. Once you get they hang of them you will never go back to flats. What shoes are you getting / have you got?

i have some seriously ugly blue and white things from last spring's lidl 'sale' thingy. they will definitely fit them i have been assured, but as i hate the shoes so much, i will have to get something a little less, er, blue and white...

You'll be fine on 520's.... just try going clipless with full on road pedals for the first time - that's hard work......

SPD's are great.... I have to be careful going out on my road bikes these days, with using SPD's 5 days a week....

You need to spread the love ;)

I have the orange and black Lidl shoes and they're just fine. Can't see any problem with tthe blue and white ones :biggrin: They fit my 520s and my single sided Shimano SPDs with no clipless moments so far (well, nothing attributable to the shoes - just my clumsiness).

Especially as the shoes are not blue and white, but grey and blue as I just proved by getting them out of their dusty box on top of the wardrobe. They are actually very nice and look pretty stylish - puddleglum's memory had failed slightly (a rather common occurence) and she had turned them into blue and white monstershoes in her mind!!! Plus at least she can have all her clipless moments in cheap shoes this way, without having to worry about getting them scuffed and can therefore concentrate fully on avoiding damage to more important bits!

Then again, puddleglum has been practising / pretending all day unclipping on flat pedals - it was rather amusing cycling behind her and watching her kick her heel out before doing her usual hop off the bike!!! ;)
