Help required to on tyre choice

Thuis is the brief.Should you choose to accept it.
I ride to work and back each day and a 40 plus on a weekend.
Fairly newish to cycling (at least for buying gear) my ride consists of 90% road 10 path /tracks etc.
I use a cx bike with new Omega road wheels (I think), please recomend me a cheap hardwearing tyre to see me through the winter .
Possibly looking at a 28mm - 30mm what do you think ?
After puncturing twice in three rides I am leaning towards puncture protection over speed!.
I lok forward to any advese , replies links etc.
regards
Mark

Being a cross bike it should have clearance for that size of tyre and 28mm ytye usually give a good balance of speed and comfort. Marathon Pluses are well reviewed if you are looking for good p'ture protection.

Based on that brief I'd suggest Continental TourRide which are available pretty cheap here. I run them in a mountain bike size on my knockabout bike and have only had 1 slow puncture in over 3500 miles, so they are reasonably tough. They seem to roll well on the road but have an aggressive enough tread to grip off road too.

I realise that the thinnest shown is a 32c, but my experience is that in the 700c sizes they are actually narrower than the label suggests, so the 32 will be nearer to a 30 once fitted.

The standard Marathon is a great tyre - you'll get on fine with it.

I have them on my best bike and would recommend them (if you hadn't said cheap ;)). Good grip, hard wearing, very puncture resistant and I doubt you'll have any problems fitting them, unlike the M+.

I seem to have the knack for putting new Marathon Pluses on. I did have to watch a few YouTube videos to work out what that knack was though. ^_^
