I'm probably being stupid but need some help!

Trying to remove a Truvativ Elita GXP crankset to replace the external BB.

I've removed the 10mm and 8mm hex bolts from the non-drive side, but then what... do I need a crank puller tool?
Should the crank just loosen off by itself and I'm just not giving it enough welly?!

Help!!!!!

Not come across these, but there may be a small plastic tab in the slot which needs flipping up. Otherwise I imagine it should come of quite easily. Usually find a plastic faced hammer needed to tap the drive side out. Sorry I cant be more help.

ARRRGGGG! Your mistake was undoing the 10mm plug bolt.

What you need to do now screw the 8mm bolt back in (probably best torque it down a bit). Then do the 10mm plug in, this fella needs to be seriously, the torque on my alloy GXP crank set is 108lbft! Once that's done undo the 8mm bolt.

To remove the cups look for the arrow on the cups & turn in the opposite direction to those

It's a fun learning curve this!

Afraid to say I gave up on the BB cups, I was starting to knarl them
That's the bad news.

The good news is I put it back together after a wipe, reapplied grease and amazingly the little bit of play in the BB has been cured

So at least I have a spare BB. Unfortunately I think it's going to have to be a trip to the LBS to get the old one off if and when that happens!
