Anyone that can help me out with info would be much appreciated.
I'm looking to purchase a new bike for commuting to work 24mile round trip, i'm looking for a fast but strrong reliable bike as i'm a big big guy (23st) looking to spend around 250-300:smile: Hybrid with 700's or hardtail mtb with 26x1.5 slicks what do you think will be better?

Thanks in advance Tim

Hi Tim, welcome to the forums!

The best advice I can offer would to go to your Local Bike Shop (LBS) and try a few models, the guys in there should be able to advise you to a bike to suit your needs.

The LBS will most likely stock brands such a Giant, Trek and Specialized - all of which will have a 250-300 Hybrid and will most likely fit you perfectly.

As for the 23st, I would say a Specialized Globe, but only because they give me the impression that they are sturdy.

I've got a Specialized Globe Sport and it supports my 20st (a bit lower now that i've started cycling every day) frame very well.

I've clearly never refused a second helping of anything (yes I ate all the pies too) and find my Ridgeback Speed hasn't buckled under me yet...

Do be aware that some lbs(local bike shops) will try to tell you that the bike they just happen to have in stock is the ideal model for you.;)
