Hi All,

I find myself in a rather good position but I am having a really hard time choosing which bike to go for .
My company is in the cycle to work scheme , and I can get the new boardman team carbon(they said I can only use Halfords) or I've seen online the cube litening HPT, which is not on the cycle to work scheme.

I know they are totally different bikes , I can get a very good deal on the cube, only a couple of hundred more than the boardman ,I like to keep my bikes for a long time so I dont mind paying a bit more but is the cube really that much different in performance or quality? So has anybody got or had any experience of these two bikes ? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks Benn.

The Halfords scheme can be used to source bikes not stocked in their stores. Call to Halfords C2W scheme helpline and they'll tell you if they can source Cube. They can deffo source Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, Condor, Felt....

Thanks Willo but the cube is well over the £1000 limit for the cycle scheme. It's the choice I need help with really. Someone who knows alot more than myself about these bikes and spec. Carbon or titanium , which would be the better option in the long run , I cant find any reviews on this years Boardman, I'm a big bloke and I dont know much about carbon frames, will they stand up to me mashing the pedals all the time ?

The Boardmans generally gave very good reviews as they are very well specced for your money and most cycle mags rate them very highly in any comparison test they do of similar bikes.

Assuming you are sticking to the £1000 limit of the C2W then you would probably be best to look at getting a good aluminum frame with good level of wheels etc rather than getting a carbon with lower spec equipment.Halfords do get other bikes but you will not be getting ones in a sale as they will be getting the bike in at rrp .
I went through this whole process a few months ago and i was looking at specilaized, trek ,cannodale etc at a maximum of £800 and they all came in with sora set up whereas the boardman comp came with apex which apparently is between tiagra and 105 for quality.

You cannot get a Ribble on the scheme , i tried, i know another guy who spent the full £1k and imho his bike from another named brand (cant remember what ) is no better spec than mine as it has the same level kit and tiagra shifters whereas if he had got a boardman he would have been getting 105 with a better wheel set.
