Right here goes. What are the main differences between a £10 Helmet and an £80 Helmet? Is it just design and name?

Ive currently got a Raleigh Helmet from Go Outdoors. But notice my head gets pretty hot during rides and I start to get headaches. Is cooling something that gets better with cost?

The cheap one is crap the more expensive one is better.

NOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD END THIS THREAD BEFORE ANYONE ELSE POSTS!

Some helmets sometimes cost more than other helmets.

Buy one you like at a price you are happy paying.

Now as Tin Pot said - close the thread..

Nickg just to let you know helmet debates get very lively on hear hence the previous post . Cheaper hemet built to lower standard and cheaper materials . More expensive better quality standards better materials . All helmets make you sweat . you might get more ventilation with a much more expensive helmet is it worth it ?

Weight, ventilation, brand and most importantly the size of the company's marketing budget (and the retailers preferred margin) ;)

The most important thing is that it fits you and is comfortable, the aesthetics, brand preference etc is up to you

If you are getting headaches, the helmet probably isn't the right fit and you need to drink more!

Don't see why. Just got a genuine question and would like information.

So is it different materials used or different composite?

To be fair, Nick didn't ask about the rights or wrongs of helmet wearing, just whether the cost equates to a lighter, more ventilated helmet

Ultimately, they are all constructed of polystyrene, plastic and some webbing stuff. The rest is down to personal fit and aesthetic and brand preference

Nick, read some reviews, go to some shops, try some on and buy one which feels best. Even the reviews are subjective if the reviewer has a different shaped head to you. A buff might help soak up sweat and help cool that way

Vickster- thank you ever so much. Someone who has read my posts and giving me some information regarding the question I've ask. I will go and have a look over the next couple of weeks.

The Op has asked a genuine question, if you don't like helmet threads don't read them, as for helmet comfort I can only quote my own experience, my expensive helmet was comfortable but eventually the straps separated from the helmet, my cheap Aldi replacement is just as good but cheaper and seems to be constructed the same.
