This is not for main illumination on unlit roads.. just a "be seen" light.

I got one of these in November 2023. It has a metal body and front & rear illumination. I have the front on steady and the rear flashing.

It is not so bright as to dazzle although I would turn it off on shared paths. I've charged it up to use again this winter.

I'm pretty impressed with it. It needs recharging every week after riding 30 mins home at night each day so battery life is not enormous, but then it is a compact little unit. It's been good for illuminating number plates on errant vehicles, and checking out bumpy bits of road. Makes me more visible to drivers too. Just what I wanted.

My recommendation is don't do it.

Once you've given CPR to someone thets had a helmet light rammed into their skull, as I have, you'll never want to mount anything on a helmet again.

There have been several times when I have felt branches and other things brush against my helmet
on one occasion a branch actually jammed into the hole and pulled my head back

Personally I just don;t want anything sticking up from the helmet that can get caught on anything so a helmet light is out for me

Not sure if you are thinking front or rear.

But I have a bell helmet with a rear light built in.... I think it's a bell.. While quite secure I think and amount of hitting would cause it to fly off

If you've still got the instructions for your helmet, you'll probably find a line in there advising you not to attach anything to it.
