Hi
So i'm getting some money towards a light for my birthday. This will be the first decent light i've bought so want to make sure i'm getting a good one.
The Exposure Joy stick has been recommended:

but i've also found this one which seems comparable and a bit cheaper:

Anyone had experience with either or can recommend any other in a similar price range 100 - 200£s

Many thanks

I used the Joystick - until my wife nicked it!

The versatility of this light is the compact size, the sheer qaulity and the run times. You can also extend this for a reasonable price with a "piggyback" battery.

Thanks Cunobelin. Dare I ask why your wife took your Joystick?

Yes a few people have recommended the Exposure products but suggested I go one up and get the 'Diablo'. Although I notice this years Joystick has been upgraded to 300lumins.

I have a Joystick and I'd recommend them. Actually, I have two as the wife wanted to nick the first, so I got her one for her birthday.

I use a head-mounted Joystick and a bike mounted Maxx-D, both on low or medium most of the time, which gives plenty of power for me to ride off-road. If you are getting a Joystick as a head-light, then I can also recommend the headstrap (safer than a helmet mount) and a RedEye Micro.

She commutes on a Brompton and with the ease of clipping in and out of the small fitting was ideal. She wanted a commuting light and as soon as she saw the Joystick that was it... it now sits on her Brompton

Cheers Guys

I went for the Exposure Diablo MkII... 900(count 'em) lumins. Arrived yesterday. Forgot I was wearing it last night and have blinded several people already. Looking forward to testing it on the trails tonight.

Can I say the prices are extortionate. I bought one from china 5 months ago 600 lumina and fits on my helmet. Price £9.99 plus 8 pound p& p. The burn time is 2 to 6 hours. I bought I hope light a month before I got the one from china to be honest the china one excels.

Or there's good old Maplin. If you Google "tactical light" there are one or two people out there doing 200 lumen torches for around £50 that stand the test of time. The Chinese import stuff is a bit hit and miss, and personally I'd rather avoid them - all well and good until you get one with a dodgy charger.

I got a CREE one from Lidl for a tenner. It is mega bright and has 2 modes. Mega bright for 4 hours or bright for 40 hours. Only problem is it takes AAA batteries, which you can only get up to 900mAH. Would have much preferred to have it take AA's.
