i am after a camera to capture footage of my rides in the aples also to take pictures of the scenery around can anybody recommend a good one......also any pictures or footage so i can see the quality.

Depends on your budget, but for stills I found out yesterday that if you view your video with VLC player it can take snap shots of your footage

lots of sellers on the high street selling for around the same price including the likes of Argos.... etc
got mine a few weeks ago.... really happy with it

plus points... strong water proof case... image and video quality, wifi (connect and control via your apple/android phone)
the only down side is... no bundled Micro sd card, and needed to buy extra mounts to use it on the bike.. i went for the K-edge mount (really well made and looks bling)

the gopro is brilliant, especially at that price

You won't beat the gopro for video and picture quality.
What will be key for you is battery life.

It looks ok to me. My partner wants a new cam as he doesn't like his Muvi Veho any more and this one is cheaper than the Contour Roam...

It doesn't look bad but things to look out for in the not well used cameras is the mounting options, they generally aren't as good and it's sometimes worth spending the extra money to get the better mounting options. I would suggest doing more research into the mounting options.

Thanks Gaz, he's going for the Contour Roam after all - apparently, they do it in red as well as black - very snazzy huh!
