I'm a new member, just saying 'Hello!'

I have a Muddy Fox Courier hand-me-down which I take out for a spin. This evening I rode from Shiremoor along the Waggonway to Silverlink, then along the Coast Road to Tyne Met. I turned around a little after that and headed back, passing through Shiremoor and going up to Earsdon Church on the new tracks. Stopped off at my friend's house and walked her dogs, before riding back home - I saw a black rabbit and some swifts (as well as numerous horses!).

I'm hoping to lose a bit of weight without realising I'm working hard - I went out for a ride earlier in the year and had to keep getting off and walking because I fatigued my legs! I was shocked at how unfit I was, so you can imagine how chuffed I am to be able to ride continuously again now! :cycle:

I reckon I'll be needing some padded gloves soon though. Glad that I have profile handlebars so I can switch grip when my hands start to get sore. Thought my ample behind would be padding enough but it appears not (hence the name).

Would love to know about any groups in North Tyneside who ride together.

:hello: Sadlsor

Hello Sadlsor,

I'm in Blyth and have been exploring some of those paths you're talking about - Shiremoor, Earsdon, etc. We're lucky to have so many nice places to ride around here.

I don't know of any groups in North Tyneside, but a few of us are hoping to meet at the Great North Bike Ride on 30th August and you're very welcome to join us if you fancy it.

Cheers

Anne

Thanks for the welcome messages!

The gloves look like just what I need - thanks for the tip, Matthew. ;)

Anne - I'll have to get back to you, if that's ok? I'll have my little'un with me too, I'll have a think about joining at Whitley Bay and riding to Tynemouth...

Off for another ride now...!

Lol - yes, I adjusted my seat height yesterday, Starthms. I too spent my youth on my bike. The whole summer would be spent riding up and down the street and I remember setting out with paper and pencil and drawing myself a map as I went along, so that I could get home! There were some falls too. One where I simply rolled along the ground and got back up again without a bruise on me and another when I went over the handlebars and knocked myself out! The former would come in handy if I ever come off again, the latter would not be so welcome.
I'll have a look at the Coast and Castles route, Joe1942 and let you know... although 20/30 miles seems rather a lot for me at the moment!
