Hi again,
Yes I am another lapsed cyclist who has returned after many years of treating my body like a shed! I bought a hybrid with the intention of losing weight. I started out with gentle rides but suddenly I am riding up hills turning round at the top descending and climbing back up! I am by no means fit and end up puffing and panting like the proverbial but still do it. I now want a road bike etc etc. Have entered a charity ride. What is wrong with me do I need help is there a name for this condition;)

I don't know what it's called, but this place is full of fellow sufferers. You are not alone!

You are not mad. You are re-aquainting yourself with sanity. Go easy though. Too fast re-entry can be disorienting. Get plenty of rest between visits to the sane asylum.

Oh, yeah; it's called health. The Human organism actually craves it.

Yeah You are completely barking mad like everyone else on here:biggrin:

I started riding again about 3 months ago and have now lost just over a stone (started at 16 st.)I havent reduced my food intake but havent increased it either which is the secret I think. A few people have reported that despite riding lots of miles per week their weight hasnt dropped,Im no expert but suspect they must be eating more as a few hours ride does build up a hunger.

Good Luck with the cycling and the weight loss.

You are suffering from a condition referred to as "Cyclists re-found athletic zeal enhancing energy" or Crazee for short. Enjoy it but be warned this condition can be contagious and may often cost you vast sums of money.

Before you know it you'll be fantasising about your bike, dreaming of lovingly carressing its bottom bracket, tweaking its spoke nipples, greasing its bearings....
