Hi,

Just got and fitted some copter tape (from Paragon tapes of ebay - not anything to do with me but quick postage and good prices).
I brought 2 of the 14 piece kits, one for my Secteur and one for my brothers bike, so luckily I had 2 of the larger bits.

I used one for the top tube, and one for the downtube on my secteur. The suprising thing is... I managed an impressivly good job!

I dipped them in water with a little washing up liquid in and squeegeed it out and even with the Secteurs curvey and bent top tube there are no bubbles or wrinkes. The 14 piece kit is decent fr the money, but knowing what I know now I would spend a little extra and get 2 metres of the 100mm wide tape. That way I would have 1 metre for the top and downtube, and a metre left to do the seatpost, fork leading edges and seat/ chainstays. That would cost about £16 but much better than trying to touch paint up after a scratch.

Why is this stuff called helicopter tape ?

Have been using the stuff for years in the motor trade and always called it profile tape.

If you've a local signmakers, they do something very similar but i can't remember what it's called. Possibly a little heavier than heli tape, but excellent stuff. I paid £4 cash for a piece 1mtr x 300mm...bargain.
