kind of an uncomfortable topic, but does anyone have a recommendation for treating heat rash/razor burn caused by riding? i'm not sure if it's the material in my bike shorts or if skin just gets irritated by sweat in the heat, but are there any tips for preventing razor burn or irritation? better yet, does anyone know of a treatment to make it go away?

Something I have some first hand experience of not from cycling but living and working in the Malay jungle (long story).

The biggest things you can do are to keep the affected area clean and dry; use a non scented powder; dusting powder, military type foot powder etc will do this very very well. Do not use creams, gels or ointments on the area as these will maintain moisjure and warmth in the affected area and just make it worse.

That said, depending on the severity, and if it really is "heat rash" or just irritation, Sudocrem or Zinc cream will be your best option here. Differing advise to above; but it really depends on wether we are talking irritation or heat.
