I'm starting to get into strava etc, enjoying my short rides, but would like to at least try a HRM to more accurately measure myself.
A lot of the HRMs I see are happy to state Apple connectivity, but I can't seem to find many for android?
Caveats, cheapish please, I'm thinking of less than £50, and the strap must go up to size 'fatgit', ie, 48".

Thanks for any advice, I am still looking, but don't seem to be able to find anything which meets these 3 criteria.

You need to look on the Strava supported HRM list.

To be honest if you are doing this I would look at a Garmin bundle. The bluetooth ones are usually quite battery hungry.

If you haven't got ANT+ or Bluetooth LE (for which you also need Android 4.3+), you'll have to stick to standard Bluetooth. It's slightly above your budget at €70.90 (£63), but Sports Tracker do a Bluetooth HRM, which comes with a free year of premium access, whatever that is. There's a larger strap available too, if you need it.You can output your rides from Sports Tracker to Strava if you need to.

So, the week the HRM arrived (see 2 posts up) I managed to drop and smash my phone :-) Anyway, replacement phone has arrived, and despite the HRM box making lots of claims around 'Apple App compatible' and "Suitable for all IOS devices!", my android phone picked it up perfectly immediately over bluetooth 4.0. Not taken it out on a ride yet but look forward to seeing what it adds...

If your Android phone is 4.3 or later it'll works just dandy.
