How do i know when to replace a headset.

My headset appears to always want to 'settle' in the centreline.

....one thing worth trying is rotating the steerer one complete revolution, ie 360 degrees. The bearings will end up in a different position than they would otherwise, and you may be lucky enough to eliminate the notched/indexed thingy in the straight ahead position. - a quick fix that may just work.........

Headsets don't respond to psychology. It is kaput.
