Hi guys quick question for you

I am going to convert my 1" threaded forks and stem to a A head system using a converter do I still need a headset with this.

I'm assuming you mean a "post" that sticks up from the steerer, onto which you clamp the threadless stem?

In which case you need all the stuff you currently have on there.

yes basically you just remove your quill stem and insert the converter and tighten it with about 2.5" left sticking out above your headset.
The converters come with a variety of shim sleeves so you can either clamp a 1" Ahead stem straight on or use the included shim and clamp a 1.1/8 Ahead stem on . A plastic plug to finish of the top and thats it.
Oh they are pretty heavy things :biggrin: swop the steel bolt for an alloy one from a quill stem amkes a big difference

Its worth saying at this point...try your LBS for one.
I paid £7 for mine after tentatively asking my LBS...'yeah, no problem, we've got one in a box somewhere'.
Same thing on ebay is usually £8 minimum..plus a couple of quid postage.

I always prefer to support my LBS wherever possible.
