Headset Question

Hi There,

I am looking to update my winter ride with a new frame. Looking at the details it comes with a headset that is a "press fit" does this still need to be fitted using a headset press or is literally a push fit?

Any help would be appreciated

A press fit headset is either a semi-integrated headset or a traditional headset and part of the race is a tube which fits tightly into the headtube.

This means that ideally you need a headset press although you can tap them in if you are experienced.

If you are buying a new frame make sure that the headset is already fitted as you then avoid the nightmare of finding the correct headset and also the even bigger nightmare where the headtube hasn't been reamed accurately and needs widening (which you do get on some cheap Chinese frames).
