Hello
I hope this is the right forum to be posting this thread, if not sorry. It will probably be obvious but I don't know a lot about bikes either.
I have recently started commuting (35 miles round trip) to avoid the fun of the tube. Anyhoo! zooming up the inside of stationary traffic a car turned left on me and now I need a new front wheel and forks (better than a new head). I have bought a new front wheel and a new set of front forks.
Here lies the problem. The headset on the Carerra Virtuoso from what I can see and have found out is semi-integrated/integrated so when I tried to swap out the forks I couldn't do it. The new forks are the correct size but what is happening is the top of the fork is flat and sitting on the rim of the frame. I need some sort of tapered fitting to sit on top of the fork and so the tapered bearing inside the headset can rest on it. (not very technical description, sorry). The old steel fork has a tapered top edge that the bearing inside the frame sits on.
I have seen a few carerra virtuoso bikes on this site that have had the forks changed out so was looking for some advice on how to upgrade/change the front forks on a Carerra Virtuoso if someone could please enlighten me.
Thank you for any help in advance.
