Hi

im pretty new to MTB only doing it like 3 months
best sport ever in my opinion
anyway i own a cheap bike that i want to upgrade everything exhept the frame

the forks on it are crap and i need new ones but all the best forks are 1 1/8" non-threaded

not 1" threaded ones and i own a headset which only fits 1 " threaded fork steerers ;)

is there anyway to convert my bike to use 1 1/8" non-threaded forks
if so could someone tell me
thnx

I don't know what bike you currently have but by the sounds of it you might be better off putting your 'upgrade' pennies in a jar and using them to get a complete new bike.

nah its newish jus a really cheap crappy bike
the only thing worth keeping is the frame
it was a mistake really
ebay-it gets us all lol
due to many different and in-depth reaons that i dont want to go into i cant get a new bike 4 a while
so i need new parts
its defo a 1" steerer and headset and i think that its not integral and can be removed

Are you sure the frames worth keeping? What is it?
By the sounds of it you're wasting your money upgrading that bike.

i can get bout £300
i only really do crosscountry
but i havnt tried any of the other types of mtb so i want something i could do downhill dirtjumping and crosscountry
i was thinkingmaybe a downhill bike with a long seat post
i could then use it for jumping with the seat down
and coz im pretty much a begginer wap the seat up and use it for xcountry and downhill
but i have bugger all experience in bying good bikes

For £300 you can cross downhill off your list. There's nothing even remotely in your price range.

You might get a dirt jump bike for £300 but even with a long seatpost it's going to make one crap cross country MTB.

Stick with the major brands like Giant, Specialized, Kona, Gary Fisher, GT and avoid 'gimmiks' like rear suspension, triple clamp forks etc and you shouldn't go too far wrong.

There's probably better deals out there buy these are the first 3 I found.
