Headset advice please.

My brother in law needs a new headset on his trek 1.5.

It takes a 1-1/8 inch semi integrated headset, so Evans site says.

Is this any good, or should I find ritchey, fsa, hope....

Semi-integrated and integrated (as in the evans ad) are not compatible. If I were you I would not trust an ad for headset size/type spec without a clearer id.

Could be worth firing off an email to Trek, then take their recommened measurements/spec to a shop.

You need to take off the existing bearings and establish

The OD (outside diameter)
The ID (internal diameter)
Depth (around 6 - 7mm usually)
The angles of the internal and external bevels (usually stated on the side of the bearing 45x45 or 45x36 for eg)

You have to match up all 4 variables.
