Heads up - Shimano BB5700 bottom brackets are discontinued

, so if you want to stock up on them, do it NOW. I had major problems just now finding an online vendor that stocked any.

Shimano do of course have new bottom brackets that are compatible with the BB5700, but I preferred to stick with the ones I know, and worry about switching to a new product line several years from now.

Aren't all HT2 BBs virtually identical anyway? I can't imagine a 5800 would be all that different.

Replaced by the functionally-identical 5800. Nothing to see here....

The newer 5800 cups will fit all so no problem there - however, they are different, smaller outside diameter so need an insert for the tool to tighten them up. If you buy the pucker Shimano stuff you will get one of these with the bb cups - otherwise you may not.
