Looking for a headlamp (as in, a head-mounted lamp) which is bright enough to see by at,say, 15mph, but isn't so big and fat and ugly that it makes me look like I got assimilated by the Borg. Does such a thing exist yet?

Rather not use a helmet light as I don't always wear a helmet

Exposure Joystick with elasticated headband. Works a treat and you'll probably only need medium power on the road at that speed.

Sorry, if that "only need medium" reads like I'm bragging or something, I only need to use low power myself. High power is great for off-road, if that's your only light or if you are flying down a hill, but if you are using it in conjunction with a decent bar-mounted light, low or medium should be fine.

Have to eat baked beans for a few weeks to come up with that kind of cash, I think. I do like the headband though, that's a very nice bit of kit. Thanks!

It is worth it. Note that the bare Joystick is "only" £145 if you don't want the helmet & bar mounts.

The band is fantastic with the Joystick, I've been using it for over a year, although not much over the summer, obviously, and it works really well, the light is placed perfectly and, because it's quite thick, it also works as a kinda sweat band, if you wrap something underneath it, and it keeps the wind off your forehead, if you have a similar hairline to mine.

The Joystick is good quality I am sure but they are making a hell of mark up on what is a torch.

Try Fenix or Deal extreme, half the price of the Joystick will get you a perfectly usable Fenix light or even a purpose built head torch with straps, a 300 lumen light is over kill for your needs.
