I have been cycling for well over 20 years and the last 2 weeks I've been getting headaches as soon as I start my rides ( I do ride as fast as I can , so not leisure rides as such ) I thought it might of been my sunglasses cos I got some new ones but tried without them and still the same . My wife said try riding slower but I think unless I am breathing hard and dripping with sweat then I am not getting anything out of my ride . Should I take it easy now I'm 40ish or should I seek medical advice ?

To the doctors you go, no point asking a load of keyboard warriors for their uneducated medical opinion.

Yup, that's what doctors are for - get your moneys worth out of the NHS!

Definitely do NOT take it easy now you are 40'ish. It's the slippery slope to slippers and a cardie.

The thing is, with headaches, it could be all manner of things. It's quite plausible that it's due to a muscular problem; if you've pulled something in your back, it's quite possible it's giving you a headache. Your body is clever enough to "reroute" any streneous motion around the afflicted area, meaning you don't get any direct pain.

Go to the doctor's.

See your Doc, could be an allergy, its the right time of year for it. If the headache is frontal I would try one of the allergy tablets a few hours before cycling
