Have I overcharged my bike light?

Go on, tilt your head!
I bought these lights less than a year ago and after an overnight recharge of the rear light it no longer powers on

Weirdly when I removed it from the USB port, the light came on automatically and could not be switched off. If I plugged it back in to the USB port it went out and would respond to the power button and go through the light settings as normal. However, now it won't respond to anything, plugged in to USB or not. The only sign of life is when the power button iluminates to indicate charging.

I have been really impressed with these lights until now, is it simply a case of buy cheap, buy twice? Or does someone have any cool tricks I can try to revive the light?

Power switch failure?

It's let wet inside it?

Circuit board has thrown a wobbler?

It is not intended to switch on when plugged into the USB charging (my smart 700 doesn't) but now thinks it is on charge even when it's not?

The Bike Gods hate you for buying from Halfords? ;)

If its been left uncharged for some time it may well have died - rechargeables don't like being left
