Hey guys,

I have recently bought the Mongoose Fireball 26" 2011 for going to the woods and just for general messing around on jumps and dirt tracks.

What are your opinions on my choice and what do you think I could do to upgrade my current bike (forks, wheels)

Many Thanks

Bluddy 'ell, that looks quite cool. Tell you what, I wish bikes like that had been around when I was a lad, this is almost exactly the kind of bike I rode from age 6 to age 14:

Most cyclists will advise you that a good upgrade is lighter wheels but you wouldn't want to do that to a jump bike, would you? I would keep it exactly as it is but learn to maintain it well and inspect it regularly for cracks and worn components.

Learnt to ride on a Raleigh Chippy, and thought I'd only recently got into riding fixed?

All I remember where the soild rubber tyres.

I actually thought it was Budgie, but all the Budgies seem to have pneumatic tyres, so it must have been a Chippy.

Until I had an MTB and now my hybrid I was riding a 1929 Raliegh, used in WW2 by the home guard, it still had its gun mount on it, before that I had a 1930s low gravity delivery bike with basket, boy I could carry some stuff, but both only used for local riding and shows

Why are they called suicide levers?

This was my first proper bike. Saved up with my own money and evryfin.

Well, not this particular bike, but one the same as. Except for the suicide levers. Mine didn't have those.

That was my first bike too and like you I thought it was a Budgie until I googled it.

I actually learnt to ride though and to fly over the handlebars safely on a hand-me-down Raleigh Chopper.

I don't think my brother was happy especially when I got his 10speed Raleigh racer too a few years later.
I then a victim of fashion  and got a BMX, then a mtb.
