Has cycling become addictive for you??

It's entirely possible. Go for it! ;)

The only thing standing (or sitting) between you and the ride is you. With the right attitude and a fair bit of practice you can definitely give it a good go.

Warning. Cycling may become addictive.

I have to say that although I commute 95% of the time at the moment, I have become totally addicted!
Even this morning at 07.00 when the wind was horrendous and the rain was lashing down, I was not thinking "can I take the car today", I was actually thinking "Hybrid or Racer - Hybrid or Racer?"
Eventually went with the Racer as the wind eased slightly.

To be honest, I am amazed myself how much it has become part of what I want to do.

I am even going to do the Coast to Coast (Whitehaven to Tynemouth) in two days next year.

Don't think I am anywhere near ready for any sort of road race event - not fast enough and will take one hell of a lot of work for me to get there! (46, 14st and a lot of stamina work needed)

Good:biggrin:
If only more people in this country were addicted to cycling and fewer were addicted to car driving.

I'm not sure about addictive, but I keep finding more and more excuses to get on the bike. Actually, that probably means I am addicted, doesn't it?

If I wake up and the weather's apalling outside my first thought is, "oh no, will it stop me riding to work?". And I've been pleasantly surprised to find of late that it doesn't!! xx( I had a moment of truth a couple of months ago when I realised that I hate being stuck in the car on the way to work.

Yes totally addictive. Did my first 100 mile ride this year and this week I will have cycled more miles in a year then ever before (5000). Also aiming to hit at least 6000 by the end of the year.

Pondering next year 7000 / 8000 ?

Like lazy commuter I really detest commuting to work by car now after what seems like constant delays / accidents on the A14.

My name is Geoff and I'm a cycling addict.

There I've said it. I'm ashamed to admit it but if a couple of days go by without me 'turning a pedal' (Wink wink!) I suffer from withdrawl symptoms. I lust after other peoples rides! The shame! The horror! The sheer fun of it!

I've always enjoyed cycling, but since upgrading to my first drop barred road bike a couple of weeks ago, I have found myself wanting to be out on it all the time... I think it's purely a speed thing and the feeling I get when I get home and realise I've done x miles in x time... I also find myself constantly checking back to this, BikeRadar and online cycle shop websites when I'm at work

Having already got an addiction (alcohol - dry for several years!!!!) I am loath to say I am addicted. However cycling is a large part of my life and I do find that integrating it with other passions such as photography is a great help I keeping my life in balance. Having a very sedate passion (A/V tech) also helps a lot :-)

Addicted -- me?

OK so I get a bit tetchy if I don't ride for a couple of days. OK so when I am at home in the evenings or I'm waiting for a meeting to start so I go on cycle forums or look at bike web sites. OK so if we have visitors I hope they'll go early enough for me to go for a ride.

but I'm not addicted, I can handle it ... honest I can.

Anyway it's my wife's fault, 'get a new bike' she said. I was just following orders.

Yes! Had to take the car to work today. It was horrible. It seems so stressful being in the car now!
Also obsessing about getting a second bike....! That's a bad sign, right?!

Left home this morning at 7.00. It was pitch black, blowing a horrendous gale (head-wind, of course) and horizontal rain. I loved it.
My boss felt sorry and offered to drive me home in the afternoon, and looked amazed when I said, thanks, but no thanks.

It's my 3-F fix: fun, fitness and freedom.
