Happiness = £?

Just been watching the Antiques Roadshow and it occurred to me that even if someone valued my collection of beer mugs (no, really) at, say, £5,000 it wouldn't make that much difference to my life. Nice, but not enough to change anything. The mortgage is ten times that and you can't retire on £5k can you?

How much would it take to make a serious change to your life?

To be happy I would be fine with just enough to cover all my outgoings plus a little to allow me a little bit of fun and comfort in life.

I think it would take in excess of £1m in a lump sum (or £100k pa) to make me smile more then I would do with what I have now.

£30k per annum say so I could work when I wanted, holiday and change the car when I wanted. mm now that doesn't sound enough. Maybe £50k per annum!

Money would only make you happy if you lived in poverty and it got you out of it. Otherwise it makes no difference because it is part of human nature never to be satisfied. Own a Jaguar and you feel hard done by because you can't afford a Ferrari.

Everyone would benefit by looking down and thinking how lucky they were compared to those worse off than themselves rather than looking upwards with envy at those with more.

That's me sad because I can't afford enough money to buy some decent make-up

Nah I'm just easy really.
(and not in that way).
